Past
A queer coming-of-age solo fairytale
SUGARCOATED is an autobiographical late (late) coming-of-age story about me, Jen: a romantic daydreamer who absolutely should have known she was queer by the time she was 8 years old. Through stories both mortifying and hilarious, Jen takes the audience through it all!
Every year, the Mayor of Banesboro presents one individual with the prestigious "Citizen of the Year" award. This year's winner, Duke Bright, reflects his last name: a volunteer, a dedicated father, a man of the community. But when secrets of the past creep up to haunt, a truth comes to bite back, and a wounded soul threatens the reputation of not only Duke, but those who support him, Banesboro's Mayor, Frank Scandlebourne, will stop at nothing to keep things quiet and maintain the status quo.
